I titled this sculpture "Empty Net," a term familiar to the hockey world, signifying a last-ditch effort where a team pulls their goalie in a desperate attempt to keep playing the game and go into overtime. This concept resonated deeply with me during a pivotal period in my life. It was a time when reaching out to God felt like my final hope, a spiritual "Hail Mary" to transform my life and overcome my struggles with addiction. Despite numerous failed attempts to conquer these challenges on my own, I realized that surrendering to a higher power was my only path to salvation. This sculpture also reflects the dreams I harbored as a child, dreams that, due to my own choices, did not materialize. Yet, through divine intervention, I discovered a talent that allowed me to be apart of the worlds I once aspired to be a part of, just in a completely different way. “Empty Net" embodies both the desperation and the hope that come with seeking a second chance.
